F-5E in Heater-Ferris scheme of the US Navy Fighter Weapons School circa 1984.

This F-5E was flown by Cmdr Rick Ludwig, nickname "Wigs", when he was CO of the US Navy Fighter
Weapons School, commonly called "topgun", in the mid 1980's.
It wears an unusal camouflage scheme which was devised by US Navy Cmdr C.J. Heatley, nickname "Heater",
in collaboration with famed aviation artist Keith Ferris.
The idea behind the scheme was to break up and mirror the aircraft's appearance in an attempt to confuse
an opponent visually during a dogfight. To this end they even painted a false canopy on its underside.
(By default this obviously shows in the USA list but it will also show in the Russian list so it can be used as an adversary with NATO aircraft)
