Established in June 1951 as VX-5, in June 1993 VX-5 and VX-4 merged to become VX-9. The primary purpose of VX-9 is as a weapons test squadron whose mission is to provide research, development, test, and evaluation. The repaint represents F-14B 163226 circa 2004. Aircraft 241 tested the Tomcat deep strike load out of 4 GBU-31, LANTIRN, Phoenix and 2 AIM-9 missiles. <br />
