About DCS: F/A-18C
The F/A-18C is a single-seat, twin-engine supersonic fighter. It combines amazing maneuverability, lethal weapons, and the ability to operate from aircraft carriers. The F/A-18C serves in many countries and has played an important role as a multi-role fighter in conflicts from 1986 to the present.
The F/A-18C is equipped with a full suite of sensors including radar, targeting pods and helmet mounted sights. In addition to its onboard 20mm cannon, the Hornet can carry a large number of unguided bombs, rockets, laser and GPS guided bombs, various air-to-surface missiles, and radar and infrared air-to-air missiles. This makes the F/A-18C incredibly playable in DCS World.
The F/A-18C is renowned for its extreme low-speed maneuverability in dogfights. To give you the true power and ultimate capabilities of this aircraft, we have gone to great lengths to simulate the Hornet's aerodynamic model and fly-by-wire flight control system. While being a deadly weapon, the F/A-18C is also an easy aircraft to fly and a pleasure to fly.
In addition, we have equipped the F/A-18C as a carrier-based aircraft with the most detailed aircraft carrier ever created for PC gaming. Catapult from an aircraft carrier and attack a variety of targets that only DCS World can provide, then "call the ball" (via optical landing system approach) and land on the aircraft carrier like a real naval pilot. The F/A-18C module for DCS World will bring you the richest, most realistic and unique digital air combat experience!
DCS: F/A-18C Key Features:
- Professional flight dynamics model (PFM) and realistic flight control system (FCS). Experience the thrill of flying a supersonic fighter.
- Included is a new, highly accurate USS John C. Stennis aircraft carrier with fully functional steam catapults, arresting cables, IFLOLS landing system, TACAN navigation, blast deflectors, radar antenna, defense systems and exterior lights.
- The most realistic F/A-18C model ever created, down to every bolt and paint job, including flight control surface animations, lighting, damage model, and landing gear.
- Many subsystems of the F/A-18C are simulated in detail such as engines, fuel, electrical, hydraulics, radios, lighting, emergencies, etc. While features such as "auto start" are available, it does not compare to the feeling of accomplishment after learning to operate and master a state-of-the-art machine like the F/A-18C.
- Inertial and GPS navigation systems with moving maps allow you to find your target in a variety of ways and get you back to "Mother" (the aircraft carrier).
- Dozens of air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons and sensors. From simple rockets to high-tech GPS and laser-guided bombs, experience everything that only Hornet pilots have been able to experience until now.
- A highly realistic, exhaustively researched cockpit with mouse interaction in 6 degrees of freedom. Interact with the cockpit by pressing buttons and moving switches. With our Advanced Systems Modeling (ASM), you'll feel like you're part of the aircraft.
- The F/A-18C manufacturer Boeing assisted us in providing authentic F/A-18C sounds.
- We developed new visual effects for the F/A-18C, such as leading edge flap moisture, wing surface moisture, cockpit rain effects and new explosion effects.
- Virtual Reality Support. Take advantage of the latest VR technology to immerse you in the simulation. You'll feel like you're there, except you won't experience the G-forces!
- There are many different paint schemes from many countries, including the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, Canada, Australia, Spain, Switzerland, Finland, and many other units that have F/A-18Cs in service.
